In the third year of the USA Cycling Best In Kit competition, we saw some close matches, major upsets, and a lot of great kits! 36 amazing clubs participated this year, but only one team could come out on top. The 2021 Best In Kit winner is the Bear Development Team, known as Bear National. Thank you to all those that participated in the 2021 Best in Kit competition, it was a fun competition with very creative kits.
We had a chance to talk to Julia Violich, the Director of the Bear National, to ask her a couple of questions regarding their awesome kit. (All answers provided by Julia Violich and Robert Voigt)
Who designed your rad kit?
The company that designed our kit was Agency 328. Robert Voigt has been designing our kit for the past 7 years. This year he did a great job designing a variation on our kit, that all our athletes are super excited about it.
What’s your favorite part of your kit?
I really like the pattern and color of the jersey, and how visually they match up with the leg bands. I'm not normally a fan of Super Matchy, but I really like how ours turned out. Our team kit has always used the same colors, a combination of blue, green, and pink for the last 10 years. It’s really cool to see those color patterns come together. Robert Voigt, our kit designer, says his favorite part is the brilliant colors and consistency of the theme. But my favorite part of the kit is when the team tells me they are pumped to rock the colors on race day. That’s definitely the best part about it!
What is the ideal sock combo for your kit?
Easy! Sock Guy did our socks and put the shoe/kit combo together. The team loves it and it looks really cool with the kit.
