COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Olympic Silver Medalist and World Champion Mari Holden was announced today as USA Cycling’s Women’s Road Coach, overseeing the development of the next generation of USA’s women cyclists. Holden will oversee USA Cycling’s women’s road cycling programs from the development athletes through the USA Cycling National Team.

“Mari’s experience as an elite athlete and team director will allow USA Cycling to create new support mechanisms for the next generation of great American cyclists. Mari’s appointment underscores our commitment to excellence and results as we focus our women’s program on the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and beyond,” said Scott Schnitzspahn, USA Cycling Vice President of Elite Athletics.

In her new position, Holden will be responsible for developing the women’s program, from Juniors through the progression to the elite level.

“As someone who has worn the U.S. National Team kit and has spent years developing U.S. Olympic Hopefuls, I am honored to be part of the team behind the team,” said Mari Holden. “My years with Sho-Air Twenty20 have fed my desire to do more in the sport I love. I look forward to working with our talented women and helping them develop into Champions.”

Holden’s amazing career includes an Olympic Silver Medalist (2000), World Championship title (2000) and six National Championships. As a team director, Mari has guided multiple World Champions and Olympians, including Chloe Dygert and Jennifer Valente.
